About Me.
Am I the right therapist for you? Sharing a little about myself to help you decide.
How we would work together
When you choose as as your health partner we combine your expertise of your own health and how you personally feel, react and change with my knowledge, network and resources to find the best solutions for your goals.
As a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, I will draw upon the full scope of science-based nutrition and lifestyle medicine for your benefit.
We will use a functional medicine approach to learn and think about all the factors that may be contributing to your health issues and which could be used to pursue your health goals. This will mean we get to the root causes, and not just the symptoms.
The intimate and high engagement nature of nutritional therapy ensures that as client and therapist, we develop a personalised, precision plan for you, fully mindful of your specific enablers and barriers to be overcome.
About Me
As an amateur athlete in my 20s I marvelled at how we can purposefully manipulate our nutrition, lifestyle and environment to support our personal mental, physical and spiritual wellbeing and performance.
In my 30s I was challenged by health issues that excellent medical professionals were unable to help me with, including gut health, kidney stones and worst of all, a “syndrome”. I became frustrated that medical toolkits were predominantly drugs and surgery for diagnosed conditions and by the lack of help to seize the opportunities to leverage nutrition and lifestyle as medicine.
I became a keen health optimiser and n=1 citizen scientist. However, this led me to discover that finding science-based practices and interventions required a depth and breadth of knowledge and understanding that I just could not gain without formal education and dedication of extensive time. Without this I was essentially gambling with my own health.
The solution I chose was to switch careers, studying and qualifying in Nutritional Therapy.
Finding your Root Causes
Many clients choose to work with me for common challenges including digestive issues, fatigue and low energy, weight loss, type 2 diabetes, cholesterol, blood pressure, poor sleep and stress.
I have two autoimmune conditions myself, coeliac and Raynaud's, so I can easily empathise with the challenges of dealing with chronic health issues.
Together, we can address your health problems by identifying and tackling the underlying root causes, and enabling you to simply enjoy your life more.
Sometimes symptom relief is important too, so we will always look for quick wins in addition to going after the long-term sustainable solutions.
Healthspan Optimisation
One can also start from being “okay” and aim for great.! I love pursuing enhanced healthspan and dedicating myself to continuous education about what we can do to realise it.
So I am very willing and able to work with you to optimise your pursuit of healthspan covering metabolic, cardiovascular, immune, digestive, cognitive, muscular and bone health.
If you have sport, physical or cognitive performance goals, I can definitely help you with those too. Functional nutrition can help you improve your health in order to enhance your ability to train, recover and perform. I would draw on my experience as a World Amateur Body Building Association (WABBA) personal trainer and keen swimmer, cyclist, lifter and yogi.
