Cronometer: Best App for Tracking and Insights
Within your health journey, whether it is self-managed or with the help of a professional, you may find value in a tool to enable tracking and analysis. Of all the apps available, Cronometer is not the best known, nor does it have the marketing spend of those which are, but it does have some rock solid features and benefits.
What does it do well, and do best?
1. Dietary Tracking. Cronometer enables tracking not only of macronutrients but also most micronutrients, essential fatty acids, all vitamins, all major minerals and some minor minerals. This enables the kind of dietary insight that most alternative tools just do not support, really enabling identification of opportunities to improve your dietary quality.
2. Sleep and Activity Tracking. Cronometer syncs with most major apps and devices for automatically tracking your steps, activity and exercise. It also enables manual input.
3. Biomarker Tracking. Here it where it gets special. Cronometer also enables tracking of both preconfigured biomarkers, such as blood glucose and ketones AND anything you want to create and enter as a custom biomarker, for example, your testosterone or cortisol (should you get these measured)
4. Analytics and Insights. Putting all the above together in one place makes it far easier to zoom out, spot trends, spot opportunities and problems, and ultimately, inform the choice of impactful changes and actions
5. Cost Competitive. The Free plan is indefinite and offers most of the feature suite, whilst the Gold plan, at about $35 per year, adds on things like 'Ask the Oracle' for suggestion of foods high in a given micronutrient, and enabling you to export your reports to share with your health professional.
