Consistent balance, mobility and stability work are a largely missed opportunity for many. Does that include you?
Just look at that advert for the Bend App for mobility & flexibility though.
Seriously?
With the aid of a highly motivated team of goats and a well rigged pulley system, I might just be able to achieve the Day 1 stage. Only once mind you. I would never be able to repeat it, no matter how good my surgeons were.
Day 60?
Only if my bones were first replaced by silly string.
However, a dedicated balance, mobility and stability practice should be a key part of your overall exercise programme.
Just as much as any other developmental, progressive exercise, there is no need for competition. I could practice daily for 15 years (I have) and never get anywhere near the Day 1 in that advert.
Yet regular balance, mobility and stability work makes the difference between:
⛹ Moving well vs moving around pain
🏌♂️ Exercising consistently vs incurring more frequent injuries
🏃♀️➡️ Retaining joint mobility vs losing degrees of motion
🏊♀️ Training for today vs training for the next 10-20-30 years
Also, together with power, balance and stability is a key skill to build to reduce the risk of slips, trips and falls of the kind that may just be annoying, or may result in a broken wrist, or worse, like a hip fracture.
Balance is a skill, something to build & retain so you have it when you really need it.

It is also as simple as 5-10 minutes, daily or 3-4 times per week. Despite that ludicrous advert, the Bend app is genuinely great at providing guided routines.
You can also just perform things like single-leg balances, eyes-closed single leg balances, Yoga Warrior poses, and use kit like Bosu Balls, Single Foot Balance Boards and Balance Surfers.
