Would you like to reduce your intake of toxic pesticides? 🤔
If yes, then the question is how? 🤷
Let's be clear. Short of moving to a new planet you cannot avoid exposure to pesticides nor any other toxins.
They are everywhere, in our water, food, soil and air.
However, it is still meaningful to reduce exposure.
⚗️ Your total toxic exposure contributes to the burden on your natural detoxification system. This is an incredibly powerful system and always active.
You do not need to perform juice-cleanses and soup-fasts for it to work. It is always active.
There are a few very practical things you can do to support it.
#1. Reduce your exposures
#2. Support your natural detoxification system through hydration, nutrition and lifestyle practices such as sauna.
The Pesticide Action Network UK helps with #1 by preparing an annual UK Dirty Dozen list of foods mostly likely to contain the highest residues of multiple pesticides.
So here is what you can do with the UK Dirty Dozen 2025
☑️ Print out the infographic, pin it to your fridge
☑️For these foods, prioritise selective sourcing
Buy direct from farmers or farm box schemes that provide clear information about their pesticides use
or
Buy organic
or
Buy regeneratively farmed
☑️Prioritise thorough washing & scrubbing of these foods prior to eating
These are good, healthy, nutritious foods. There is no good case at all for avoiding them but you can use these simple tips to reduce your pesticide exposure.
Being organic or regeneratively farmed does not mean pesticide-free but these approaches to farming do emphasise reduced use of pesticides, which means reduced exposure for you when you apply these simple tips.
Note that this Dirty Dozen list is very country specific, and there are similar lists for other countries.
